Description

They are vividly colored birds with tight interlocking hair like feathers which produce a sleek glossy plumage that actually looks like silk. They are a large stocky parrot, being 14 to 15 inches in length (35 cm), and have a short square tail and long round tipped wings. Differences in the subspecies are specific to the location they came from in the Pacific Islands and include size, head coloration, and brightness of plumage.
What is most striking about the Eclectus is the vivid difference in coloring between the male and female. The Eclectus Parrot is the most sexually dimorphic of all the parrot species. The male is a bright green and the female is a bright red.

SOCIAL BEHAVIORS:

The lovely Eclectus parrots Eclectus roratus are attractive and intelligent birds. They are some of the most brilliantly colored of all the parrot species. They are one of the better talkers and delight in making various sounds heard around the home, such as the microwave or the telephone.
Eclectus Parrots have a laid back personality that their humans adore. They are quite content to sit on a perch for hours at a time playing with their toys. They do not like commotion and they do not react well to it. They are calm birds in captivity, but will display a pensive nature when faced with new things or situations. They do not adapt easily to new situations or environments so humans must be patient and adjust to having a somewhat shy, three-year-old child-type companion. They can be very territorial of their cage area. So should be removed and placed on a perch for extensive time periods, at regular intervals and preferably daily.
The Eclectus is an intelligent bird and when taught properly, they are capable of cognitive behavior from a very young age.
The Eclectus is not a demanding bird and is relatively easy to care for; however, they prefer a daily routine. They are slow to adjust or adapt to new things. If you are providing your Eclectus with a new toy, for example, introduce it to him outside the cage. Then let him see it outside the cage for several days before you hang it in the cage. They love new toys but they will stress at a rapid change in their environment.Homes with children, plenty of company, and lots of play and activity is not the best home for an Eclectus. But they do make a good pet for someone who lives alone, rarely has company, and where the environment and daily routine does not change. These parrots can also be rather noisy and are best suited to environments where their loud calls are not a bother.
Eclectus parrots are tamed easily and are very sociable. Some humans feel the male is the more talented, with more talking ability and easier to tame. Females in the wild are the more aggressive of the two. However, both sexes can become affectionate pets and enjoy human handling
.
Female Eclectus are the dominant gender. Consequently, females tend to be louder and more moody than the males. When a female reaches breeding age, she may become more aggressive. She may also become occupied with checking out nooks and crannies around the house or aviary, looking for potential nesting spots.

We also rarely have different colors of eclectus parrots mutations available, feel free to contact us for availability.

I got my Eclectus parrot here and bring him back often for grooming. I also board him here when I need to.
Though he’s never thrilled to be away from home, l’ve no worries about him in the hands of these staff, who are all caring and highly knowledgeable about their birds. I live only a few blocks away from the shop, but even if I move elsewhere in Florida, I’ll always come back here for my bird care, lodging, and any supplies he needs.

After extensive research we decided to get a love bird. I previously went to canoga discount birds and was told they didn’t have any baby lovebirds and that they had two adult ones that were very timid, they didn’t make any effort to suggesting other birds or getting personal info to contact me when they do, so we left a little disappointed.
Fast forward one week, we found Perfect Parrot. The moment we walked in we were welcomed and asked what we were looking for, to my surprise they had one baby love bird that was hand fed and ready to be homed. It took us awhile to make a decision but within that time the employee gave us other options to see, such as conures. They did have other baby love birds that needed one more week before they can be homed.
My son fell in love with the blue love bird that wasn’t just ready. Eventually another employee intervened and said we can purchase that specific one if we promised to come back to have it weighed in a week, which was no trouble at all, after all we just want the bird to be healthy. All three us were so happy, they gave us a lot of information and prepared us to be newly bird parents lol.
Overall, the store was very welcoming and informative.
They gave us so much attention and time for us to bond with the bird even when they were about to close. He was a little bit overpriced, l paid $200 but I understood why, they do make sure the bird has no disease and is given a DNA test so you can know the sex of the bird.
You do get 20% of your 1st purchase which was helpful.
And free grooming services, and one free package of food and some small toys. The only “negative” thing I can say is that I do wish their store to be little bit more open, when you walk in it can be overwhelming and not a lot of space to walk. I would definitely come back for our second pet when we are ready lo!!!!
Almost forgot they let us borrow a carrier cage which I thought was very nice and showed they trusted use to give it back in a week!

My partner and I are going to be first time bird owners.
We drove all around LA looking for a friendly young cockatiel to adopt.
The Perfect Parrot was one of the farther bird shops from us that we decided to check out (well worth the drive). There was plenty of parking and the shop was easy to find. The inside was clean and well organized and fully stocked. The variety of toys and treats is overwhelming as was the selection of adorable and friendly birds
We got to the shop pretty early around opening time and noticed that the employees were setting up and doing the morning feedings for the baby birds. They were busy but still very welcoming and accomadating and offered to help us with what we were looking for
They had a couple cages of young hand fed cockatiels which was surprising after all the let downs we had from the other shops. They were all so friendly and running up to the cage thinking we were gonna feed them, like little raptors The employees offered to let us hold the birds we wanted and see which one we fell in love with.
I was not very familiar with handling birds as much as my partner was and was almost afraid to hold the little babies but the employees were so helpful and gave us tips and advice on how to approach and handle them.
We took a couple out to see which one we got along with and settled on our little Piccolo. All the birds we interacted with were friendly and unafraid of human contact. That was an important quality we wanted our first bird.
Of all the bird shops we went to, the perfect parrot had the highest set price for a cockatiel, $200. WELL WORTH IT THOUGH if you consider the care that goes into rearing these fearless and friendly baby birds, availability of birds, the cleanliness of their facilities, and the helpfulness of their employees. ON TOP OF THAT, they give you a bag of food, some toys, 20% off the first purchase of supplies you get with picking up your birdie, and a lifetime of bird grooming, advice, and care for the birds you purchase there. I wouldn’t buy a bird anywhere else after coming here.
After purchasing Piccolo, the store welcomed us to visit him anytime until he was weaned and ready to come home with us. We visited him twice and noticed his growth in that short period of time! The employees were welcoming and remembered us and our ‘tiel.
The owner and employees have made this bird adopting process easy and stress free XD. They have been helpful and caring and I can genuinely say that these people love their birds and want the best for them.
We can’t wait to bring out little birdie home with us 🙂
